Description
How many times have you dreaded changing the oil on your Packard?
If you’ve dealt with the original system, you know the problem. Dropping the oil filter canister, remaking gaskets, soaking parts in kerosene, and cleaning up the mess—it always turns into a bigger job than it should be.
This Packard oil filter conversion kit was designed to eliminate all of that.
I even tried a reproduction-style canister with a spin-on filter, thinking it would solve the problem. It didn’t. The canister still had to come off, the gaskets still had to be dealt with, and everything was still soaked in oil.
So… I built a better solution.
Packard Spin-On Oil Filter Conversion
This Packard oil filter conversion kit accepts a commonly available spin-on filter (WIX WL10068) while maintaining the original appearance of the Packard L6/L8 oil filter canister.
The difference is in the design:
The clamshell housing opens easily, allowing you to replace the spin-on filter just like you would on a modern car—without removing the canister or disturbing the oil lines.
A proprietary internal oil manifold routes engine oil through internal passages to and from the modern filter.
Result:
✅ No more removing the canister
✅ No more remaking gaskets
✅ No more messy cleanup and soaking
