1928 Hudson Model O Custom Landau Sedan
Description
Built on a 127 3/8″ wheel base, this car is wearing a Murphy bodied tag and was designed by Murphy from Pasadena, which was part of Hudson’s salon group, offered in 1928.
I believe the car was actually built by Biddle & Smart of Amesbury, MA as they did most of the custom bodied cars for Hudson at that time. It is a blind quartered car, which is very rare in itself. Adding to this, the body of the car is aluminum, while the fenders are steel.
This car had been in Hawaii before it was purchased by White Glove Collection and its condition is that of a car that has seen no snow or other sorts of rust-creating weather. The best evidence of this is the superb quality of the doors, which open and close like a Wells Fargo safe.
You can drive this car as-is or restore to suit your needs. It runs and drives perfectly and has the electric fuel pump along with the engine pans, between the engine and frame, that are still in place. The bumpers have been re-chromed and the original rare trunk is still in place. Two of the inside door handles are broken, but this is the car’s sole defect.
According to our research, only six proto types were built by Murphy and delivered to Hudson. But it remains unclear if this is one of those prototypes or if it was contracted to Biddle and Smart and still wears the Murphay body custom coach tag.
